What is CranioSacral Therapy

John E. Upledger pioneered CranioSacral Therapy (CST) following rigorous scientific research conducted from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University. This gentle, hands-on approach focuses on assessing and optimizing the craniosacral system, encompassing the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that safeguard the brain and spinal cord.

In the area of well-being, three primary forms of stress—emotional, chemical, and physical—often manifest as blockages. These stressors exert a significant influence on our overall health, impacting both mental and physical states. Recognizing and effectively addressing these blockages through therapeutic interventions is crucial for achieving optimal wellness and resilience.

CranioSacral Therapy identifies and addresses these blockages, alleviating symptoms such as pain or illness. By applying gentle touch to specific points on the cranium and sacrum, therapists facilitate the body's innate healing abilities. This approach clears blockages that impede spinal flow, fostering natural healing processes.

CST is recognized as a stand alone as well as a complementary treatment that targets deep-seated tensions within the body, aiming to alleviate pain, enhance function, and promote overall health and vitality.

CranioSacral Therapy is increasingly valued as a proactive healthcare strategy, strengthening the body's resilience against illness.

What To Expect During Your CranioSacral Session

During a CST session, you'll remain fully clothed. The Cranial Club practitioner begins by assessing your craniosacral rhythm and the condition of your cranial bones. Using gentle pressure techniques, they target areas of concern within the fascial system.

Responses to CST treatments vary, but most clients typically report feeling relaxed, refreshed, unwound, or occasionally tired after a session.
